U16 Army Rugby 7s Tournament

Posted in: Sport on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

The prestigious regional annual 7s tournament was again held at Topsham Rugby Club. Due to a few late withdrawals, the team that should have consisted of Year 11′s was supplemented by small group of very talented Year 10′s, who made the step up with ease. St James were dealt a blow in the opening game with an injury to hooker James Evans, which would rule him out of the entire day. Never the less,  St James dug deep and the game against Honiton was won 24-7 with tries from Lewis Moore (2), Ben Purrington and Ryan Wallis (who also added 2 conversions).

St James then faced a tough Uffcombe side, but again triumphed 17-5 with tries from Lewis Moore, Ben Tucker and Ben Purrington, with Wallis adding the extras.

Ten Tors - Training Day 2 Report 19th November 2011

Ten Tors Training Walk 2 – Bellever Tor area

The second Ten Tors training walk took place on Saturday 19th November around Bellever Tor.

A highly motivated bunch turned up at school at 8am on Saturday morning, although there was some confusion about the whereabouts of Tom Gosson, Laura Samways and Amy Stevens. As we waited at school waiting for them to arrive, Mr Deane gradually remembered that he had passed them at the Beacon Heath shops, and vaguely remembered saying something about us picking them up…..20 minutes later…….!

Remembrance Sunday (Armistice Day) 2011

Remembrance Sunday (Armistice Day) 2011
This Friday is Remembrance Day with Remembrance services being held across the country on Sunday. Student assemblies are focussing on the reasons for Remembrance and some lessons will be covering this topic too, looking at the diversity of people involved in various conflicts since the First World War .
Many people of different cultures and religions are involved in Remembrance to acknowledge the sacrifices made, and indeed, that are still being made, to ensure freedoms for people across the world. The Royal British Legion works hard to promote this to all people in Britain, the Commonwealth and the wider world. Some samples of this are included in these files.
