The annual Parents for St James Quiz Night was a huge success, with everyone who took part having a fun, yet challenging evening, which managed to raise £245 for the St James Unsung Heroes Reward Fund.

Over 80 people took part in the evening, with sixteen teams competing to win first place – which in the end went to Shakespeare’s Disciples (the St James Science department) after a closely fought tie-breaker question round with two other teams! Other winners were the Dislocated Knee Repairers who won the prize for the best placed Student Team; The Broccoli Trees and Cauliflower Cheese team for the best Team Name and the UnIntellectuals who received the prize for Special Position.

The quiz master was Ghee Bowman, who asked questions set by himself and tutor groups from St James – 7DXW receiving special mention for the high quality of their questions.

There was a raffle on the evening, which raised over £150, with prizes donated by among others Bernaville Nurseries, the Three Horseshoes Filling Station, Pecorama, Powderham Castle, Pennywell Farm, Jeff Goodman Hair Salon, The Bodyshop, Vue Cinema, Café Espresso, Escot Park, and Waterstones.

Tea and coffee on the night were provided courtesy of Carillion.

A huge thank you to all those involved in the evening and to the many companies who very generously donated prizes.
