Posted in: Latest News on Tuesday, March 26th, 2013

Transition Exeter, a local community organisation involved in promoting locals solutions to the ‘big’ challenges facing us today, are organising a Community Energy Workshop in three different areas in Exeter – Pinhoe, Exwick and Heavitree. The Pinhoe event is on April 20th at Pinhoe Primary School. Its all about the Pinhoe community coming together to identify issues regarding energy, create a vision for a better and more resilient future and start to identify the steps necessary to achieve that positive vision. Its hoped that the process could lead to local initiatives.

Year 11 Awards Evening

TEENAGERS aiming high ahead of their GCSE exams this summer have been recognised at an annual awards ceremony.

Year 11 students at St James School in Exeter received a variety of awards on the night earlier this month.

The young people, their parents and staff received an inspirational talk from guest speaker, author and BBC Spotlight crime reporter Simon Hall.

Headteacher Moira Marder said the students are on track to produce the school’s “best ever” GCSE results.

She said: “What’s important about this year group is the amount of progress they’ve made. We’ve seen them not just progress three levels, in line with Government guidelines, but four and five and sometimes six since they started the school. This makes us most proud.”
