Results138This year’s results confirmed that students at St James really do make exceptional progress during their time at the school. 93% of students achieved 5 A* – C grades and 55% achieved 5 A* – C including English & Maths – headline figures that see St James exceed their nationally set target by 11% and earn a place in the top 20% of schools (with a similar intake).

“Overall, students at St James have made more progress from KS2 to KS4 than ever before,” explains headteacher Moira Marder. “Whatever a student’s starting point, at St James they really do make outstanding progress. 72% of students made 3 levels of progress in Maths and in English the figure was 71%. In addition to this, 26% of students made 4 levels of progress in Maths, with English achieving 24%. These indicators are evidence that at St James higher and middle ability students make more progress in English and Maths than the national average; a reflection of the high expectations we set. Most importantly though, this year’s results reflect how incredibly hard staff and students have worked and the amount of effort, commitment and determination they’ve shown. I’m incredibly proud of them all.

“Subject results showed success across the curriculum. English Literature 94%, Biology 81%, Chemistry 77%, Physics 81%, Art 72%, English 62%, Maths 64%, Engineering 100%, Dance 100%, Hospitality 100%, Geography 68%, History 72%, iArt 75% and Media Studies 74%. The English Literature and History results are above the national average, with the others falling in line with the national average; even though statistically, this year’s cohort were significantly below the national average when they started at St James; further evidence of the outstanding progress that students have made.”

“Individual successes include Samantha Cruzada 5 As and 5 A*s, Steph Day who got 6 As and 1 A*, Louise Hambrook 3 A* and 5As, Heideh Langheroudi 3 A* and 6 As, Holly Stone 6A* and 4As, Alya Abu Zayed 2A* and 2As, Jess Brown 3 A* and 7As, Annabel Devenney 1A* and 3As, Huda Kaddouri Roddy 6 As and Tina Liu 5 As. However, 100% of our cohort have achieved 5 A*-G qualifications, showing the huge achievements of all students, regardless of their ability. With the majority of students aiming to go on to college or into an apprenticeship, I am confident that they will do really well and continue this path of achievement. I wish them all lots of luck for their next step.”
