St James Music Department

Welcome

Over the past year the music department has undergone a major transformation. We have worked together to develop an excellent working ethos with high expectations and aspirations. The result has been a happy all inclusive learning environment with a “fun, energetic and can do” approach.

We have focused on establishing routines and working methods, with key emphasis on instilling high expectations and independent learning skills. We have adopted a www.musicalfutures.org approach to our work and students are making full use of www.numu.org.uk label St.J’ssoundwaves.

We offer a number of extension activities and a comprehensive instrumental programme. “Early Morning Music School” has proved popular with students who wish to practice and work together in bands.

The “Music Celebration 1” concert in November was a great success and we are heading for “Celebration 2” on June 13th 2013 an event not to be missed.

In the future we wish to make links with outside agencies/charities and build on our outreach work with Exeter Primary Schools

Please take time to browse our link on the St James web.

Thank you

Every student is encouraged to take part in the instrumental programme. Individual lessons are taught throughout the day on a rotation basis. Arrangements are made directly with tutors., please follows the links and make contact. For students that are unable to afford lessons, we make every effort to help access funding and we fund an extensive free ensemble programme so that no-one needs to miss out.

This page provides links and contact details of instrumental tutors that visit our school. Please follow the links below.
